How It All Started
It was founded in 1988 by Shahid Ulhaq as the Players Appreciation Movement (PAM) to protect and promote the rights of athletes. In 1989, it was formally established in Rawalpindi, Pakistan, in collaboration with like-minded athletes from various sports.
In the early years, the PAM faced storg reistance from government sports esablishment and sports organization, who saw the groing unity of athletes as a threat. Players were discourged form joinin, and many supporters stepped away, creating obstacles for the movement. Despite these challenges, Shahid Ulhaq continued advocating for athletes’ rights through media and self financed efforts. in 2000, he revived the mission by transforming PAM into the Sports and Fitness Association of Pakistan (SFAP) with the broder vision under the slogan “Community Development through Sports”. Since then, SFAP has carried out various initiatives for community development, while SPOFIT HUB reflects the collective ventures led by Shahid Ulhaq, a pioneer of sports Philanthropy in Pakistan.
